With the launch of powerful new iPad Pros many have began to take Apple’s pro tablets as viable replacements for the desktop OS powered laptops and desktop computers. While iPads still have a long way to go as far as software is concerned, Luna Display wants to literally make the new iPad a part of your desktop setup.

You may have heard of Luna Display before, however if you haven’t it is the company that turns an iPad as a secondary monitor for a MacBook with the help of an adapter and app. Now Luna Display has been able to turn the iPad into the primary display for the Mac mini. This has been made possible using the Luna Display adapter transmitting the video output wirelessly to the iPad. This essentially means you can ‘run’ both macOS and iOS on your iPad at the same time. When you are in Luna Display’s app you can use macOS, while you can return to iOS as soon as you return to the home screen.

The best thing about this setup is that users can interact with macOS using iPad’s touch display. This means you can perform certain actions on macOS by touching the screen with your fingers or with Apple Pencil.

While no one is recommending you to go and buy an iPad Pro to use with Mac mini, it is actually a great way of adding a touchscreen display for those who already own an iPad and a Mac mini. This is also great for those who want to take their Mac mini with them on a trip but don’t have a monitor available at their destination.

Luna Display adapter sells for $80. If you are interested, you can find details on how to set up an iPad as the Mac mini’s display on Luna Display’s website here.
