As anticipated Apple has announced iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini smartphones at its Hi, Speed event. The new iPhones are part of Apple’s four device lineup of iPhones that also includes iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini feature an all new design that looks the same as the Pro models. The new iPhones are equipped with 5G network support, Apple’s A14 Bionic chip, Dual-Camera system with ultra-wide and wide lenses and an edge-to-edge OLED display, which is a first for the relatively budget friendly lineup.
Let’s talk about the new OLED display on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini first. As we said this is the first time ever that Apple’s whole iPhone lineup is equipped with a Super Retina XDR OLED display, as last year’s iPhone 11 had an LCD display. The iPhone 12 has a screen size of 6.1-inches (which is same as the iPhone 12 Pro) while the iPhone 12 mini has the 5.4-inch display, living up to the ‘mini’ name.
This year’s iPhones also have Ceramic coating that provides a 4x better drop performance according to Apple. This will reduce the risk of glass breaking in case you drop your iPhone on the floor.

Apple has added magnets to the back of the iPhone dubbed as MagSafe. These magnets allow users to take advantage of the new Turbo Charged feature in which the magnets align themselves perfectly every time for faster wireless charging. In addition to better charging experience the magnets can also be used by first and third-party accessories such as cases, wallets, charging stations and more.
Both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini come in five color options including Black, White, Product RED, Green and Blue colors. Both these iPhones are available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options.
The iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order on 16th October with a starting price of $799. The orders will ship on 23rd October.
The iPhone 12 mini will be available for pre-order on 16th November with a starting price of $699. The orders will ship on 13th November.
