Apple Releases (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 And iPhone 8 Plus, Red Folio Case For iPhone X

Following months of speculation Apple has finally released iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition, and they will be available for purchase starting tomorrow. The new red iPhones will be available for purchase in stores on Friday, April 13.

This is the second time Apple has released a (PRODUCT)RED variant of the iPhone. Last year in March Apple released iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in the same finish. Just like other colors of the device the (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition iPhone will have a glass enclosure and a red back. The device will have a red aluminium band on the side and a black front.

The black front is particularly interesting as last year’s red iPhone 7 featured a white front, which was criticised by many Apple fans. There were even modified editions available for purchase that had the black front panels installed. Both red iPhones will be available in 64GB and 256GB storage capacities, with a starting price of $699.

Disappointedly Apple has not introduced a red iPhone X, instead the company is only offering a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X Leather Folio case, which will also be available tomorrow from its website at a price of $99.

A portion of all (PRODUCT)RED special edition Apple products will be given to Global Fund HIV/AIDS. Apple has been partnered with (RED) since 2006 and before introducing iPhones the company had been releasing special edition iPods to support the cause. The company has contributed $160 million to the RED so far. (Apple)
