iPhone 12 Schematics Show Face ID Sensors Inside A Much Smaller Notch

iPhone 12 leaks continue to happen despite the device’s official announcement being several months away. We recently reported about allegedly leaked schematics that showed us how the new iPhone 12 will feature an iPad-like design. Now more details about this upcoming flagship device have surfaced courtesy of Jon Prosser.

According to the latest leak iPhone 12 will feature a much smaller notch while still being able to house the complex Face ID hardware. Prosser has shared a schematic that shows this new and much smaller notch. Based on that image we can gather that the iPhone 12 will have all the components that are necessary to make Face ID work while the device’s earpiece will be located above the notch and built right into the bezel.

If true, then it is quite remarkable that Apple has been able to fit all the components required for Face ID in such a tiny spot. The reduction of notch’s size will also make more room for the iOS status bar, which will now be able to show more essential icons such as Do Not Disturb, Location, VPN and others.

In a separate tweet Prosser clarified that iPhone 12 will not feature a Smart Connector as indicated in earlier leaks. Apple Pencil support is also not expected on this year’s iPhone.
