The popular WhatsApp messaging app for iPhone has finally been updated to add support for the GIF feature. After updating to WhatsApp version 2.16.15 or later, which is now available in the App Store you will be able to send and receive your favorite GIF images to your friends in both group and single chats. While you get the ability to send any GIF that is stored in your photos library, WhatsApp has also included a GIF search that allows you to search its database for the best GIFs and send them over to your friends in a few taps.

In addition to being able to search for GIFs on the web right from the app you can also record a video of 6 seconds or less and send it to your friends as a GIF, too. To convert a video file in GIF format all you have to do is tap on the GIF toggle button on the video edit screen. Users of iPhone 6s or above will be able to send Live Photos as animated GIF. To do so, you have to 3D Touch any live photo when choosing photos from your library and tap on ‘Select as GIF’.

WhatsApp is available in the App Store free. You can download it from the link below or update it from the App Store if you already have it installed.
